What does Shanthi Tailors make?
Shanthi Tailors USA brings the Chennai makers of authentic Bharatanatyam costumes, temple & dance jewellery and dance accessories — crafting since 1967 — to Frisco, Texas. Jewellery, accessories and sarees are stocked in Texas and priced in US dollars; custom costumes are stitched in our Chennai workshop and shipped straight to you.
Is Margam jewellery lighter than original temple jewellery?
No — this is a common misconception. At Shanthi Tailors, Margam (copper-based) jewellery is actually HEAVIER than original temple jewellery, not lighter. Only original temple jewellery — built on a real silver base with genuine gold leafing — is genuinely light-weight, which is why it is the most comfortable to wear for long performances and full margams. Margam is loved for its intricate, traditional designs and its budget-friendly value, not for being light.
How long does a custom Bharatanatyam costume take?
Custom Bharatanatyam costumes are stitched to order and delivered in about 25–35 days. The costume is tailored to your measurements after a consultation; share your performance or arangetram date when you order so we can plan around it.
How long does delivery take for jewellery and accessories?
Ready jewellery and accessories ship from Frisco, Texas within 2–3 working days by USPS or UPS and arrive in about 2–5 days anywhere in the USA. You choose the carrier speed at checkout with live rates.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Stocked items ship from Texas worldwide by UPS Worldwide Economy, USPS First-Class International or DHL Express with live rates at checkout. Custom costumes ship from our Chennai workshop directly to your country. Customs duties and taxes on international orders are payable by the customer.
Is your temple jewellery real?
Our original temple jewellery is crafted on a durable silver base layered with real gold leafing, set with premium Kemp stones and pearls — the traditional finish Shanthi Tailors has made since 1967. We also offer imitation and antique-copper ranges.
Can I see the jewellery before I buy?
Yes. For temple jewellery you can book a free WhatsApp video call and our team will show you the piece in hand — finish, weight, stones and fit — and guide you on customisation. You can also build a full set and preview it with our Virtual Try-On.
How does sizing work for costumes?
Custom costumes are tailored to your exact measurements, so there is no standard size. Our AI measurement assistant and team guide you through the measurements needed when you place a custom order.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through secure Stripe checkout, in US dollars. High-value temple jewellery can also be finalised after a WhatsApp video consultation.
What is your return policy?
Because costumes and temple jewellery are made or finished to order, orders are non-returnable. Our team confirms every detail with you before production so the piece is right the first time — reach us on WhatsApp with any questions before ordering.
